Going to Thailand in December?

Going to Thailand in December? Webwww.articlecube.com

Going to Thailand in December?By: lar, Posted On: 2007-11-29

December 5th is His Royal Highness, the King of Thailand's birthday. His majesty will celebrate his 80th birthday in Royal Fashion. The people of Thailand have been asked to wear yellow shirts from December 1st through December 5th in honor of the King.
For the past year, Thais have worn yellow shirts every Monday to show respect to King Bhumibol Adulyadej. This started shortly after the 60th anniversary celebration of the King's ascension to the throne last year.

There already have been some events to honor the King - but more ar! e scheduled.

All the way from Russia is the Mariinsky Theatre performing for the Royal Family. On December 6th and 8th, there will be public performances - sell-outs for sure. And on December 7th, there will be a private show for the Royal Family.

And it isn't a Royal Birthday without a Royal Parade -

On December 5, a procession with holy water will start from Wat Phra Chetuphon Vimol-mangklararm Rajwaramahavi-harn to the Chakri Maha Prasat Throne Hall, where His Majesty will grant a public audience at 10.30am. From 6pm to 6.30pm, His Majesty will travel from the Amarin Winitchai Throne Hall to the Chitralada Royal Villa where well-wishers will light candles to honor him. The event will be televised.

Elections for new Prime Minister will be held on December 23rd. There may be some skirmishes in the streets of Bangkok - so be advised to avoid government buildings as much as possible. The government has also declared December 24th as an official h! oliday. The reason for this is the Thais have to return to the! ir home town to vote and this is to encourage more voters giving them time to get home and back.

Christmas and New Years will also be celebrated in most of the tourist venues. Decorations, presents and fireworks to ring in the New Year. A word of caution - last year a handful of small bombs were set off on New Years eve (as I was packing to return home) - so be aware of your surroundings.

Lastly - rumor has it that Santa Claus will be at the Emporium on Sukhumvit and Soi 26. Alas, the reindeers couldn't make it - visas expired.

Travel Tricks That Save You MoneyBy: Carson Danfield, Posted On: 2007-11-29

HOTELS...

- Call hotels at 4PM on Sunday to reserve a room for anytime within the next 2 to 3 weeks. You'll have a better chance of getting a low rate from a front desk clerk who understands that an unsold room is revenue the hotel will never recover. Don't call the hotel's 800 number - you're likely to be put thru to a national reservation line. Look up the hotel's number in the city you plan to visit.

- Request weekend rates. At some hotels, weekend rates are 1/3 of regular rates. If you're sta! ying through the week, ask that the cheaper weekend rates be extended. Make sure the room rate reflects hidden charges, such as resort fees, as well as taxes.

- Consider alternative lodging. Many hostels have gone upscale and offer private rooms for $25 to $160 a night. For information, contact Hostelling International USA (301-495-1240).

- Go back to school! More than 70% of colleges rent dorm rooms at reasonable prices throughout popular vacation periods.

RENTAL CARS...

- Call the local rental location. If you use the toll-free number to make a reservation, you may not get the lowest rate or the best car. Local operators can price cars to reduce a temporary surplus.

- Avoid renting at airport lots. They can be substantially mor expensive than in-city ones

- Rent on Sunday. There's a good chance cars will be available because customers requested them for the weekend but never showed up to claim them.

CRUISES...

- Book! a cruise at the last minute. Many routes have more berths tha! n passen gers. Some travel agents and consolidators offer great last-minute packages.

Warning - Cruise lines now charge for extras that used to be included, such as some onboard recreational activities. Make sure you understand what's included and what's not!

AIRFARE...

- Be flexible. When calling airlines, don't provide travel dates to reservation agents upfront. Instead, ask the agent to punch into the computer every fare for the itinerary you want within a range of dates. Ask for the cheapest fares first. If you're flexible, you may be able to cut ticket costs drastically.

- But tickets after midnight on Tuesday in the time zone where the airline is located. Typically, airlines start fare sales late Friday, and competing airlines match the lower fares. All the matching usually stops by Monday. Airlines usually give customers who book low fares 24 hours in which to buy them. All the low fares that were booked on Monday but not purchased by midnight Tuesa! dy come back into the airline's computer at that moment.

Travel Safe

Travel Safe Webwww.articlecube.com

Home | Travel & Leisure | Travel Tips

Travel SafeBy: Carson Danfield, Posted On: 2007-11-30

When you're on vacation, the last thing you want to worry about is your safety, so it's wise to be prepared -

- Contact the embassy. Before you book a trip, call the American embassy in the country you'll be visiting and ask for the Regional Security Officer (RSO). You can get the number by contacting the State Department at 888-407-4747

The RSO should be able to answer questions about disease outbreaks, high crime areas, weather issues, where to get the best exchange rates and problems American travelers have had.

- Don't dress lik! e an American. Letting others know that you're an American may lead the crooks to assume that you're a wealthy tourist worth robbing or, even worse, worth kidnapping for a ransom.

Keep all watches and jewelry at home. If you must bring jewelry or other valuables, make sure they're insured. Also, avoid using expensive luggage. Keep cameras hidden when not in use.

- Outsmart pickpockets. You might want to keep your money, passport and credit cards in a wallet that attaches to your belt and is concealed under your clothing.

If you wear a fanny pack, keep the pouch in front. One common trick of pickpockets is to bump into you in front and back (pickpockets typically work in teams) and quickly slice the bottom of the fanny pack, catching the valuables as they drop. Women should carry purses football fashion.

Don't bother getting traveler's checks - these days, credit cards have wider acceptance. Keep just enough cash in your pocket to satisfy a mugger! .

- Prepare for medical emergencies. Make sure you have! the pro per immunizations before heading out of the country. Plan several months in advance - some vaccinations require multiple doses with weeklong intervals in between. If you take medication, bring extra in case you have to stay longer than planned.

- Keep important information with your passport. Write down the phone numbers of the American embassies in all the countries you plan to visit. Also, include your blood type and whether your blood's Rh factor is positive or negative.

Make copies of your passport and keep them with you in case you lose your original. Leave copies with friends or relatives at home as well.

Limousine Rentals New YorkBy: temp, Posted On: 2007-11-27

New York is a vibrant metropolis beyond compare, home to over 8.5 million people of different ethnicity and nationality. It is also a city of choices, from cars to homes, jobs to restaurants, and entertainment to luxury. In short, for the people residing in New York, it is just about choosing the way they wish to live in this great city.

The present article talks about limousine rentals in New York City, the car that is not just a mode of transport but also a fashion statement, symbol of pride and luxury, and above all, a moving castle on ! the road. Buying a limo can be a tad costly and may not sound a sensible investment for most of the ordinary people unless you are super rich and have lots of cash to blow. But, for special occasions, you can get one for rent, for few hours, at affordable rates from various limousine car rentals agencies. That way, even for the average person on the streets, riding in a limo can be an affordable/practical choice.

As you might have deduced already, a limousine is not a car for daily use. It is for special occasions. Businesses sometimes use it as a traveling office for guests as they come to the physical office location from the airport. Otherwise its uses are mostly confined to special occasions such as marriage, bachelor, corporate or birthday parties. For weddings, custom made limos are usually hired by the bride's and groom's families to transport their relatives and friends to the location in luxury and splendor. For the guests, traveling in the vehicle that is ! replete with a lounge bar, entertainment facilities, dance flo! or, and every conceivable luxury a car could accommodate would be a nice feeling altogether. After all, that is what guests in general expect from their hosts on a special day.

For bachelor and corporate parties as well, the basic purpose of hiring a limo is the same. It carries the luxury and party element right through out the journey, and prepares the guests to elate themselves to the party mood before they reach the party destination.

Usually, the limos are chauffer driven because, given the length of the car, it takes some amount of training and expertise to maneuver it through the traffic seamlessly. Also, experienced hands on the wheel will ensure that no guests are late for the special occasion owing to traffic snarls or bottlenecks. In a city like New York, one needs more than driving skills on the road to reach destination on time. A latest GPS navigation system installed in the limousines usually helps the chauffer to take the right route always.

T! here are various limousine rental agencies functioning in and around New York City limits offering custom made limos to customers depending on the occasion for which they may be hiring one. You can contact such limo rental agencies for renting custom limos to weddings, bachelor and wedding parties, city promos, and airport pickups. And for the customers it is just about choosing a car, depending on its capacity and luxury quotient as well as the rates, which he/she prefers.

Some Travel Tips for StudentsBy: lar, Posted On: 2007-11-27

Getting Ready for Your Trip Overseas

The government can move slowly so apply early for your passport and, if necessary, any visas: Passports are required to enter and/or depart most countries around the world. It is your responsibility to check the entry requirements for any country that you visit. Apply for a passport as soon as possible. Some countries also require U.S. citizens to obtain visas before entering. Most countries require visitors who are planning to study or work abroad to obtain visas before entering. Check with the emba! ssy of the foreign country that you are planning to visit for up-to-date visa and other entry requirements. Don't get caught overstaying your visa. Check the renewal requirements prior to departure and periodically for any changes.

Do your homework before you depart. Learn about the countries that you plan to visit. With the advent of the Internet, this is extremely easy. Just do search and go to legitimate pages for straight information. Before departing, take the time to do some research about the people and their culture, and any problems that the country is experiencing that may affect your travel plans. The Department of State publishes Background Notes on about 170 countries. These brief, factual pamphlets contain information on each country's culture, history, geography, economy, government, and current political situation.

While you are visiting the embassy web site make sure to read the Consular Information Sheet. Consular Information Sheets provide u! p-to-date travel information on any country in the world that ! you plan to visit. They cover topics such as entry regulations, the crime and security situation, drug penalties, road conditions, and the location of the U.S. embassy, consulates, and consular agencies. You can also see if there are any online forums for the area you will be visiting. Remember that forums may or may not provide accurate information.

Watch the news and check online for any updates. Ensure that your check for Travel Warnings and Public Announcements. Travel Warnings recommend U.S. citizens defer travel to a country because of dangerous conditions. Public Announcements provide fast-breaking information about relatively short-term conditions that may pose risks to the security of travelers. The State Department tends to err on the side of caution. Remember, too, that just because there are problems in one part of a country doesn't mean that the entire country has problems.

Make sure that you register your trip with the State Department online - it will ta! ke about 10 minutes at travel.state.gov. Find out the location of the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate. You can also register upon arrival directly at the embassy but this will take much longer. If you are traveling to a remote area or one that is experiencing civil unrest, find out the location of the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate. If your family needs to reach you because of an emergency, they can pass a message to you through the Office of Overseas Citizens Services at 202-647-5225. This office will contact the embassy or consulate in the country where you are traveling and pass a message from your family to you. Remember consular officers cannot cash checks, lend money or serve as your attorney. They can, however, if the need arises, assist you in obtaining emergency funds from your family, help you find an attorney, help you find medical assistance, and replace your lost or stolen passport.

If you plan on teaching overseas, find out what information your ho! me school offers. Find out whether your school offers addition! al infor mation for students who are planning to study, travel, or work abroad. Many student advisors can provide you with information about studying or working abroad. They may also be able to provide you with information on any travel benefits for students (e.g. how to save money on transportation and accommodations, and other resources.) You can also find a lot of information online about scams and rip-offs. Do your due diligence.

Find out about the organization and what it offers before committing yourself or your finances,. The majority of private programs for vacation, study or work abroad are reputable and financially sound. However, some charge exorbitant fees, use deliberately false "educational" claims, and provide working conditions far different from those advertised. Even programs of legitimate organizations can be poorly administered.

Become familiar with the basic laws and customs of the country you plan to visit before you travel.

Remember: Reckl! ess behavior while in another country can do more than ruin your vacation; it can land you in a foreign jail or worse! To have a safe trip, avoid risky behavior and plan ahead.

Top Twelve Travel Tips for StudentsBy: lar, Posted On: 2007-11-27

1. Make sure you have a signed, valid passport and visas, if required. Also, before you go, fill in the emergency information page of your passport! Copy or scan your passport and email it to yourself, leave a copy with family, and stick a copy in your wallet.

2. Read the Consular Information Sheets (and Public Announcements or Travel Warnings, if applicable) for the countries you plan to visit. Spend some time on the Internet doing a little research. Keep a binder with important information, phone numbers, maps, and anythin! g else that will make your trip smoother.

3. Register your trip with the embassy - either online or upon arrival. Leave copies of your itinerary, passport data page and visas with family or friends at home, so that you can be contacted in case of an emergency. Keep your host program informed of your whereabouts.

4. Check with the CDC website and make sure your immunizations are current for the country you are going to. Make sure you have insurance that will cover your emergency medical needs (including medical evacuation) while you are overseas.

5. Keep out of jail! Study up on the local laws and customs of the countries to which you are traveling. Remember, while in a foreign country, you are subject to its laws! You don't want to spend one minute in a Thai jail.

6. Be responsible for your belongings. Travel light and do not leave your luggage unattended in public areas and never accept packages from strangers. You don't want to be the innocent ! mule carrying drugs.

7. Again, study the laws of the co! untry yo u will be visiting. While abroad, avoid using illicit drugs or drinking excessive amounts of alcoholic beverages, and associating with people who do. The ACLU doesn't exist anywhere but America.

8. Dress casually and don't flaunt it - even if you got it. Do not become a target for thieves by wearing conspicuous clothing and expensive jewelry and do not carry excessive amounts of cash or unnecessary credit cards.

9. Deal only with authorized agents when you exchange money to avoid violating local laws. ATMs, official currency exchanges abound. Debit cards are better than using credit cards.

10. When overseas, avoid demonstrations and other situations that may become unruly or where anti-American sentiments may be expressed. Keep away from the embassy at these times.

11. Don't be a target for terrorists. Avoid the red, white, and blue T-shirt. Be on the look out for suspicious packages or people. Be alert at all times.

12. Check the latest tr! avel rules and restrictions. Ensure you carry copies of your prescriptions for any medications.

Vacation Trip To Brazil - Jericoacoara

Vacation Trip To Brazil - Jericoacoara Webwww.articlecube.com

Vacation Trip To Brazil - JericoacoaraBy: Aoureliou Televko, Posted On: 2007-11-27

In Fortaleza, Brazil we stayed for a few nights around Beira Mar Ave., were a hand made crafts market was opened every single evening. Along the street, there were many people advertising different travel destinations along coast of Ceara. First that got our attention was a small and charming place called Jericoacoara. Jericoacoara (Jeri, called by Brazilians) as we learned later is the most wanted tourist attraction in Ceara too. It is far away from modern world, and offers a quiet refuge into p! aradise while staying there. Jeri is one of the most unique and beautiful beaches in the world.

It is also a city in a protected and preserved area, which is kept in its primitive state by the Brazilian government. That is why we decided to go there first, and started to look into different ways on how to get there. The most reasonable and safe way we found, was to take a bus operated by Redencao. A round trip will cost you R$ 35.50 ($1 USD =R$1.81 at the time of our travel) per person. This bus stops every morning at exactly 9:15 am in front of the Praiano Palace Hotel on Beira Mar Ave., and takes all tourists that wish to visit Jericoacoara. It is a bus with comfortable seats and with air conditioner. The trip is about 6 hours along the Hwy.

During the trip, you can watch a video or the views outside the window, and admire and be amazed by the size and the number of the cashew trees, and the greens of the sugar cane plantations. We also stopped along the wa! y and had lunch in a very authentic Brazilian outside cafeteri! a, with very good Brazilian food. After 5 hours, our bus stopped and we had to change it for another one, which was a 4X4 bus, because the Hwy finished at Praia beach. The rest of the trip was very impressive, along the beach and between white dunes.

When we arrived there, many locals came around to propose different options of the available hotels and posadas (small Inn). It is quiet easy to find and accommodate your taste and pockets to the options that they offer. The most expensive and modern is a hotel called Mosquito Blue the less expensive are little pousadas, they are R$ 35.00 per night and up. We chouse a posada called Jeri Brazil, because I really liked its country style. The owner was a friendly woman called Edna. She was the one to cook our meals too. We paid R$ 50.00 a night including breakfast and internet.

Jericoacoara steals your heart with its simple beauty. Its streets are paved with sand. Everywhere you can see, houses adorned with bushes full of c! olorful flowers and are shaded by cashew and coconut trees. Jeri has just four main streets, along which you can find the restaurants and small gift shops. There also are a few small supermarkets were you can buy the essentials if you need them, and they offer stuff like fresh fruits, snacks, sunscreen, a variety of drinks, etc...

Jeri is full of things to do for the active and extreme as well as for those who wish to relax and recharge.

Where to stay in Pattaya?

First thing you want to do is check your budget. Hotels, resorts and guest houses are available in every price range - but you need to know how much you want to spend for your accommodations. Depending on the time of year, you can find a room in prices ranging from USD $10 up to a couple hundred dollars per day.

Next, figure out where in Pattaya or Jomtien you want to stay. There are three basic areas in Pattaya to consider - north, south and central. The northern end of Pattaya is a little less crowded but further away from the nightlife. Central is in the middle of all the beer bar action. And, south is closest to the infamous Walking Street. Rooms in all price ranges are available in all areas. And transportation is not a problem anywhere in Pattaya.

If you want to spend time at the beach, none of the above areas are recommended. Jomtien is a bit better or go to an outer island, like Koh Larn, to get your toes wet. I would not go in the water at Pattaya Beac! h. Jomtien may also be a better place to stay if you are bringing over the family. It is close enough to Pattaya, but far enough away from the naughty nightlife.

Once you have decided on which area to stay, you need to figure out which hotel to make your reservations at. There are numerous online reservation web sites that provide a lot of information, prices, and reviews. You can also visit any of a number of online Pattaya forums for up-to-date info.

Consideration should be given to what is available at the hotel. Does it have a swimming pool? Do they charge for bringing in a guest? Are prices higher during peak season? Is breakfast included? Are there any promotions? Any mandatory holiday dinners I have to pay for (even if I don't attend)?

Most of the hotels offer the basics - bed, air conditioning, refrigerator, western bathroom/shower, and cable/satellite TV. Some of the more expensive resorts will offer room service and have one or more restaurant! s on the property. If there is no restaurant in the hotel - do! n't worr y. There are plenty of small restaurants and street vendors all over the city.

I would then do a search and see if the hotel or resort has their own web site and see what the listed prices are. Then, I would check with one of the in-country booking sites and see if they have better deals (usually they do). Don't worry - it is safe and secure and the service is faster and better than dealing direct with the hotel.

Finally, make sure you book your hotel or resort before you go. You don't want to arrive and have nowhere to stay. And, book early if you are planning to visit Thailand during "high" season - generally November to March. Pattaya resorts and hotels may also have higher prices during Christmas/New Years and during Songkran (Thai New Year - mid April).

Thai Visas for American Citizens

Visa on Arrival

US Citizens carrying a diplomatic, official or tourist passport and in possession of an onward or return airline ticket do not require a visa to enter Thailand. Upon entry, Thai immigration officials will place an immigration stamp in the passport permitting a 30-day stay in Thailand. This airport permit may be extended for an additional 10 days with the permission of the Thai Immigration Bureau.

Tourist Visas

If an individual wishes to remain in country for more than 30 days, he/she may wish to obtain a tourist visa at the Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate in the United States, prior to arriving in Thailand. The tourist visa is valid for 60 days. After arrival in Thailand, a tourist visa may be extended only twice. On the first occasion, immigration officials may extend the visa for an additional 30 days. There is a 1,900 Baht fee for each extension. Interested Americans should contact the Thai Immigration Bureau located at 507 Soi Suan Pl! u, South Sathon Road in Bangkok. The phone number is (66) (2) 287-3111. Thai immigration offices are also located in most major tourist cities around the country.

American citizens who wish to remain in Thailand for longer than 90 days during any six-month period will be required to obtain a valid Thai visa from a Thai Embassy or Consulate that is authorized to issue visas. The U.S. Embassy advises all American citizens who wish to obtain a Thai visa to contact the Thai Immigration Bureau for exact visa requirements and regulations. Persons who do not comply with the new visa regulations risk being denied reentry to Thailand at the border.

Work Visas

All foreigners interested in obtaining a work visa must first obtain a work permit. In order to receive a work permit, a company, foreign government, or organization in Thailand must file an application on the behalf of the work visa applicant. Once obtained, the work visa is valid for one year.

Chill Out In Taba Heights

Fantastic! What a wonderful place to relax. Just put your wallet, keys and phone in the safe and chill out in Magnificent surroundings The hotel in the resort of Taba Heights, Sinai. The hotel is designed the style of a Nubian Village and really sets the mark in Taba.

The views and grounds are spectacular - you can see Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Israel at over the gulf of Aqua on the Red sea. At night this is particularly stunning as the mountains take on a red hue reminiscent of sunset at Ayres Rock in Australia.

The hotel has its own huge, 500 metre stretch of beach on the Red Sea where you can snorkel straight off the beach amongst the beautiful coral Reef.

There's more than enough sun-lounges (and the hotel was full) and food which is great. The staff are friendly and can't do enough to help.
If you want to go out and party beware! There are hardly any Bars or restaurants out side of the hotel Complexes. However, we were given a dine around card ! at reception which allowed us to eat in the Neighbouring hotels including the Intercontinental, Sofitel & the Marriott. Most of these hotels were within a 15 minute walk from the Hyatt Regency. Not that you could get bored with the food at the Hyatt there are over 5 restaurants to choose from all with an International theme.

One evening we went in to on a Bedouin feast hosted in the desert by the local Bedouins. Where we drank tea, danced, and smoked the customary Shisha pipe. One day during our our stay we went to Water world for the day they have a range of water sports and diving classes for all levels. The underwater scenery was unforgettable.

Due to the remoteness' & tranquillity it is recommended that you take plenty of reading material as the books and Magazines they have on offer in the hotels are limited and Expensive.

Overall I can say that this hotel is definitely worthy of its 5star Grading and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to ! go and really want to relax within a peaceful setting.

! I can re commend booking with online company Holiday click who specialise in Taba Egyptian holidays. I found their staff very helpful and knowledgeable. We went in Early July and paid £429 for 7 nights half board and were given a free upgrade to sea view on arrival. Holidayclick contact details: www.holidayclick.co.uk 0800 4082009

HOW TO FIND A CHEAP HOTEL

People who love traveling are always in the lookout for the most affordable rates that are available on almost everything that will complete their journey. This includes everything from flights, tour guides to the most reasonable hotel deals. There are a lot of ways in order for you to find cheap hotel deals. You might be amused in the end that finding a cheap hotel is a lot uncomplicated than you actually thought about.

The habit of letting a travel agent take care of everything that you will need to prepare for your journey is the habit of the wealthy group. Since the topic in this article is about saving on hotel deals, giving the travel agent full responsibility of looking for a cheap hotel is of course, not recommended. Put in extra effort and attention in searching for hotel choices before making the final choice.

It would be a great help if you will practice the act of asking. You will be able to gather essential points that will guide you in finding a c! heap hotel.
